FRIDAY 12 JULY - STREAMLINE

Tonight we were entertained by Paul and Debbie Weston, AKA Streamline.  They are a very popular duo on the circuit and indeed they lived up to their reputation.  They are great performers, vocalists and musicians - what a package!  They gave us a great mix of country music including the very popular, the rarely heard and everything in between which kept the dancers thinking and the floor busy.

Pauline kept the floor busy in the interval with some classics, partner dances and new ones we are learning and Mike, Sue and Becky kept us fed and watered.

My sister was here on holiday from Tenerife and joined us for a night of entertainment.  She isn't well at this time but I believe she enjoyed the night and it made a change to spend an evening out.

Thanks to everyone who came as without you all it would be pointless.  You all make it a friendly club with a great atmosphere.

Texas Tornados returned to entertain us this evening and boy, did they do just that!  They played a great mix of country music to suit the listeners and dancers alike and with Pete's personality and dancing skills they are second to none.  Pete had us all laughing with his quips and in awe of his high kicks and the ability to dance throughout a song whilst singing at the same time.  Stu is a great musician and his skills have earned him a nomination in the 2019 CCN awards for Musician of the Year.  The duo have also been nominated for a further 3 categories - Entertainer of the Year, Duo of the Year and Dance Act of the year.  What quality!

Martin Boyd was a welcome guest as he has gigs in the area.  He performed at our club in March as part of our Young Country evening.  He can be seen above having a go at line dancing and becoming very proficient too!!  He also helped round the evening off by forming a trio at the end of the night which was very much appreciated by all attendees.

We also welcomed visitors from the London area and Bradford who were holidaying in the area.  It is always good to receive holidaymakers and they seemed to enjoy the evening.  Hopefully they will be able to visit the club again at some time in the future.

Thanks again to Pauline from Blue Roses for keeping the dancers dancing in the breaks and Sue & Becky for keeping us fed and watered.  Another great night at Exe Ranch.

FRIDAY 9 AUGUST - TEXAS TORNADOS

We welcomed Nadine to our club for the first time and kept wondering why we had left it so long to book her!!  Wow! what a great country music artist with a wonderful voice and a fantastic personality.  Not only did Nadine sing a great selection of songs, she had brilliant stage presence and kept us entertained with her anecdotes and lively quips.  Nadine proved very popular with the dancers and listeners alike and kept the dance floor busy all night.  It was another great night at Exe Ranch and one to be remembered.  Hopefully Nadine will be able to come back in the not too distant future as we all look forward to seeing her again.

Thanks again to Pauline from Blue Roses for keeping the dancers dancing in the breaks and Sue & Becky for keeping us fed and watered.

Unfortunately there was a sad edge to the evening as it was the last night that Sue, Mike and Becky would be our hosts behind the bar!  The St Thomas Cricket Club committee had decided to end their contract.  They have looked after us month in and month out for the past 6 years and it was sad to see them go.  We wish them well for the future and maybe hope to see them as visitors to the club some time.

Thank you Sue, Mike and Becky.

FRIDAY 13 SEPEMBER - NADINE SOMERS

Kelly McCall returned to our club tonight for the 3rd time.  She is very popular in our club as she has a lovely voice, bubbly personality and a great variety in country music.  She played new and old country and some tunes we had never heard played on the circuit before!  Wow!  Thank you Kelly for a great night and for keeping the dance floor busy.

Thanks again to Pauline from Blue Roses for keeping the dancers dancing in the breaks.

We also welcomed our new host at the venue who is Ernie.  Ernie was the host when we first took the club over back in 2013 and was warmly greeted by those who remembered him.  He and his helpers kept us all fed and watered during the evening.

FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER - WAYNE 'T'

We had a fantstic night of country music this evening courtesy of Wayne 'T'.  Wayne travelled down from Liverpool to be with us tonight and it was his first gig south of Birmingham.  He had a wonderful voice, great guitar player and he had a lovely friendly personality and stage presence.  He played some songs rarely heard in the clubs and occasionally the dancers had to think about what dance they could do, however our dancers are experts and the dance floor was never empty.

This won't be Wayne's last visit to this area and I'm sure we will see his name appearing more and more on our local club's listings.

Thank you Wayne for taking the trouble to travel this far, it was a pleasure to meet you and to have you entertain us.

We must also thank Pauline from Blue Roses for keeping us dancing in the intervals and Ernie and his team for keeping us fed and watered.

Bea being daft! Wayne 2 Wayne 1

Tonight we had the return of Kickin' Country who is Chris James and Brian Cox.  Wow! what a great night of country music.  They played some different songs and a couple of wonderful instrumentals as they are very skilful guitarists.  Their personalities and sense of humour kept listeners and dancers entertained and we had a great Christmas Party night to end our 2019 club nights.

We were also celebrating Paul's 60th birthday and Pauline not only provided us with the music to dance to in the interals but baked Paul a delicious birthday cake which we all enjoyed.  It was also Richard's birthday so Chris and Brian made us sing Happy Birthday twice!!

We had a rollover on the cash on the Lucky Horseshoe tonight which gave us a cash prize of £88 which was won by a first timer to the club.

Ernie and his team kept a busy crowd fed and watered for which we are very grateful.

Thank you for all your support in 2019 and we look forward to 2020 for more wonderful nights of country music and dancing from all our clubs in the area.
